GET TO KNOW ME

Starting counselling can feel like a big step. You'll be sharing parts of yourself that you may not have told anyone else, so it's important that you feel comfortable with the person you're talking to. I hope this page gives you a sense of who I am, how I work, and whether I'd be a good fit for you.

I'm Cathy (she/her). Over the years I've worked with people facing a wide range of challenges. I've spent several years with the LGBTQ+ Body Positive charity, specialising in relationships, gender, sexuality and sexual health. I've also worked as an online and telephone counsellor with Healthbox CIC, gained experience through NHS IAPT-informed CBT services, and currently work as a specialist mentor supporting neurodivergent university students.

Outside of counselling, I love getting stuck into art and craft projects, and if being creative helps you express yourself, I'm always happy to incorporate that into our sessions. I also love spending time outdoors and believe nature can have a real positive impact on our mental wellbeing. I'm currently looking into offering Walk and Talk therapy in the future.

I'm also a bit of a history enthusiast and have a habit of buying far more books than I have time to read. My household includes more cats than I'd probably admit to... and a rescued grey squirrel called Monty, who has become a bit of a mascot for the practice.
